New York, Broadway, la vie de STAR!

NEW YORK

Before we jump into the Big Apple adventures, a few MUST HAVE stops between Cape Cod and New York.

YALE UNIVERSITY
- The east cost is rich of some of the best universities in the world. Time didn't allow us to visit Harvard or MIT in Boston, so we decided to go for Yale in New Haven. A very 'old' type university where you would not be surprised to cross Harry Potter!

FAIRFIELD, CT
- Stamford, headquarters for some big name of finance RBS, UBS. And in UBS, my 'old' friend, ex-C-DDG colleague Georges Fernandes. We met with Georges, Diana and the kids at their new house in Fairfield. After maybe 10 minutes of shyness, the kids were going up and down, jumping and screaming all over the place. As usual language is not a barrier for kids!!! In the mean time, the parents could catch-up around a nice bottle of wine (changes from the beer we have in the RV :-)) and great vegetarian Lasagnas (bravo Diana). After a good night sleep, we even had the pleasure and luxury of having breakfast in a REAL french bakery owned by Isabelle & Vincent, from Strasbourg: this was a delight! Croissants and Pain au Chocolat who taste like Croissant and Pain au Chocolat... yummy, yummy... Fairfield would look like a nice town to live, should we end-up in New York!

So back to the BIG APPLE. What can you say, there is so much to say...

- You got crowded bridges… as the entry point to Manhattan Island

- You got the Italian headquarters, Little Italy, slowly taken over by Chinatown… That said, not sure this is where you have the best Pizzas. I had lunch (with Mike C.), and later dinner with the family, at Lazzara's (on 38th) and the Pizza are just fantastic.

- You got great parks, with people wondering around, guys or girls dressed-up in costumes, people playing music and other playing chess, other just doing their sports…

Washington Square Park

CENTRAL PARK

- You got Ping Pussy Cat (Ah, Ah, Ah) and less extreme, you got Husband Day Care Center…

- But you also got churches, including the magnificent Saint Patricks (though hidden behind bashes for renovation L)

- You got small coffee shops all around

I promise, it's not coffee, just tea...
- You got NYPD

- You got Wall Street and New York Exchange ruling the financial district

- You got limousines every block... traveling with kids is awesome, as you get invited all over the place!!!

- You got shops. No invitations required here, just a valid credit card :-)

- You got skyscrapers, old and new buildings, design and out fashion, with or without emergency stairs

- YOU GOT TIME SQUARE

- YOU GOT BROADWAY MUSICAL

We split in two, Girls went off for Mamma Mia, and boys for Spider-Man!!

The spider man experience was really incredible. We came in the show a bit septic how they could create the NY atmosphere and manage all the special effects. It ended-up even better then the movie: Michael Cohl did a really great job setting this musical up. And sometime, imagination and creativity can make a better job than the million dollar special effects!!! (a bit like the good old start wars episods :-)).

- AND YOU GOT NICE PLACES TO STAY IN

 The view from HOME
Staying in Liberty Harbor, New Jersey, 15 min boat drive from peer 11!!!
No, we were not sleeping on the boat, just in our RV :-)

WE JUST LOVED IT!

THE END

Next episodes features Washington DC, and the Capital of the confederated States; Richmond

    1. Indeed, impressing!
