Anchorage - The Beginning

After a 10 hours flight, and 10 hours jet lag, we made it to the start of our adventure in Alaska, Anchorage (latitude 61).


Just a little worried by the size of the big white bear waiting for us in the airport...


Time to pick-up our rental car. Seeing our bags and the three kids, the rental agent took pity of us and decided to upgrade us to the American car standard... what we call a VAN.

Arthur and the girls are jumping up and down and wish we would sleep in our new car :-)

That said, when they discover the House of Jade, our B&B for the next few days, they have no regrets ! Dee and Yves are taking care of us with great care: scrambled eggs, pancakes fruits and all for breakfast!

The weather is OK, but quite cooler than in Annecy: between 12/15 degrees celsius, partially raining. But this will not stop our eager to discover this part of the world.

Somehow the US authorities where informed of our arrival. Would it be a leak from wiki leaks? Who knows. As a result, we had a warm welcome from Anchorage 'offical' band. Enjoy.

Last comment for this post; let's speak about food. We are very positively surprised by the variety of food available at a really good bargain. We already enjoyed, in addition of a very nice BBQ at House Of Jade, of Chinese and Mexican food. A great pleasure. Bon appetit.
